Over the past two days we held student workshops in Heywood and Hamilton with students from your two schools Heywood Secondary College and Monivae Secondary College. You had the chance to try a number of different research techniques/tools including guided tours, photography, video interviews, surveys and behaviour mapping. How did you like it? Any feedback? Did you like being able to participate in collecting data yourself rather than reading about information others have written for you? Any advice to others about the techniques in case they want to use them in their own projects?
Any ideas for projects? - Karen

Charlies Diner in Hamilton
There should be a Charlie’s diner in Hamilton because we need more restaurants like these because they are very popular with the townsfolk and would create lot money and bring a lot of tourists from other regions of Victoria to come and have dinner here. Hamilton is a popular town in sporting events in this region and if there is no Charlies or other Restaurants it causes frustration to people visiting here especially when other places like La Porchetta are all booked out and the only other restaurants are all take away foods and some people might want a decent dinner with friends or family, so if there is a Charlies here they will be able to do that and also have there favourite foods in an all you can eat menu. So if a Charlies is to come to Hamilton it will increase tourism, popularity and put a smile on a lot of people’s faces.
Would you like it if a Charlie’s diner was put in Hamilton?
Would you go to Charlie's often if it was in Hamilton?

Roads
Group:
Laura Nelson
Ashlee Sullivan
Nicole Wheelhouse
Are roads unsafe???
Laura travels to school everyday from Heywood to Hamilton and finds the roads are not that safe to drive on. There are ditches and bumpy bits, potholes, there breaking up on the side, and when it rains its slippery.
Nicole travels to school and on her way there is a pot hole that the car has to dodge because it’s so big.

Not enough Teenage activities.
The Yr 8s of Monivae College reckon there is too little activities for teenagers. They would like to see more social and sport activities like parties, socials, freezes, sporting completions for shooting, hockey, football, skateboarding, netball, squash, table tennis and basketball. The teenagers are getting board that they lie to their parents about going to a friend’s house, and go down the street looking for trouble. This trouble leads to problems and disharmony in the family. So if the teenagers have more activities they would first off stay out of trouble, second have fun and third socialise.
Q1 What do you do on an afternoon?
Q2 What do you do on an afternoon with your friends?
Q3 How many sports do you play?
Q4 How many times a week do you socialise with your friends?
Q5 Do you want more activities to do?

THEME PARK!!
Hamilton should have a theme park because it will raise money for charities in need for food and shelter. It will also make Hamilton a popular tourist attraction. We can build the theme park on the showgrounds. It will be open between 10:00am to 10:00pm. The price for kids under five years of age is free. Children over five years of age are $6:80. All teenagers are $10:00. Adults are $12.00. Some of the rides will include “The Lethal Weapon”, “Dodgem Cars”, “Slug gun shooting at the toy ducks” and heaps more. The food will include Daggle dogs, hamburgers, chips and all of the fizzy drinks!!
1) How do we get the money to pay for all of this?
2) Can we please plant more trees?
3) Can you please donate bins?
4) Can you please get a “Charlies Diner”?

Sporting events and facilities
We have chosen to do this because kids are getting less interested in sport so they will just sit inside all day and get fat so we need more sport to get them interested in sport again also it is a good way to keep fit. Also we chose it because of the high amount of people who put down sport as their favourite activity.
MEMBERS OF GROUP: JOSH TYRRELL, JOHN TRAYNOR, SHAUN GANNON
Our group is looking to see if there is a call to increase the amount of sporting events and facilities in our regional area. To see this we will be going into town to see how people relate to the sporting events and facilities of Hamilton, we will also be video taping areas we think would be a good spot for these events. We will be asking questions such as
1. Are you happy with the level of sport in your community?
2. Would you be happy if more sporting events became available?
3. Are you involved with any sporting clubs already?
4. Would it help for other people if we got new sports?
5. What new sports would you like to come available?
6. Were would be a good spot for these facilities?
7. Would you participate in these sports if they are available?

i also learnt that some people dont like to be interviewed beacause they might be too busy.
Older people have more time to be interviewed.
We asked some people about living in hamilton and they are generally happy with it.
I also learnt that beacuse we went at about 11 30 most people were busy instead of just going for a shop but if i went back at another time it would be different
