Recently, we have seen death and destruction flashed into our television screens, in our newspapers and across the airwaves. War, earthquakes, terrorism all have reeked havoc on the world's populations - particularly those in low income nations - the most fragile, the most vulnerable again seem to be hardest hit. For some it may feel like we are living in a world out-of-control - fear and uncertainty abound. But do we have to sit back and take the world that others construct for us? Around the world we also hear the stories of courageous individuals and communities who are endeavouring to design a future for all that is based on the principles of equity and humanity - is the world that you would like to be in?
My question to you as the young people of the world is:
What kind of future do you want?
UNICEF's report Young Voices: opinion survey of children and young people in Europe and Central Asia, the top 5 reponses by the young people when asked what they want for their future in their country they said "where there is no crime and violence, where there is peace, a better economic situation, everybody has ajob and there is no pollution. You can find the full report on the UNICEF website.

i think that skools give out 2 much homework and we shouldnt have sooo much!!!
Posted by: Poyta | May 25, 2005 at 06:33 PM
Tooo much homework... well you wait till you get to start working - there is no time called workwork and homework - it all blends together!!! But I do agree a little with the idea that homework should be about stuff connected to being out of school buildings so hoemwork should eb about exploring the links between our home and teh schoolwork we do rather than schoolwork coming into our homes??? make sense?? - so doing the GUIRV will be great homework!!!
Any ideas for your projects??? if you do just click on the list under recent posts that says "Project ideas for Growing Up In regional Victoria" - cheers Karen

Hi Jess
Sounds good - remember to include your own story - why the club is important to you as a young person in the country. Remember some maps so others know where it is in relation to Victoria and even Australia (for our overseas friends!).
Cheers Karen
